Applications
Compak Bio-Composites are Engineered Agri-fibre Panel Products for use in many applications where wood based Particleboard, MDF, Hardboard, Softboard and some grades of Plywood are currently used.
Compak Bio-Composites are a Moisture Resistant panel material and it can be specified for use in the most strenuous humid domestic interior conditions where dimensional stability and retained strength are of great importance. Some examples of application would be kitchen & bathroom furniture, skirting boards, mouldings, wall cladding, shelving and flooring.
Compak Bio-Composite Panels are manufactured using MDI polyurethane as a binding agent which produces a "Zero Formaldehyde" or "Formaldehyde Free" material. This means that Compak Bio-Composite panels have emissions far below the strict E1 European low formaldehyde (LF) standard and the USA (HUD 24) standard. Compak Bio-Composites are therefore suitable for specification in environmentally sensitive areas such as schools, nurseries, hospitals, public buildings, laboratories, museums and nursing homes, or any domestic application where the end user has concern for their living environment.
The High Strength characteristics for its relatively Light Weight, make Compak Bio-Composite panels an ideal industrial packaging material, reducing transport costs in this industry. Other advantages gained from this aspect of the material, mean that it is easier to handle in applications such as reusable concrete shuttering board, while being formaldehyde free it can be used for food transportation, in particular fresh food and vegetables.
Compak Bio-Composite Panels are made in a Single Layer process giving homogenous consistency throughout its thickness, similar to MDF. This together with its superior internal bond (cross tensile) strength means that the material can be machined to give both smooth profile edges, clean edged routed slotting and tenacious screw fixing and holding without splitting.
Compak Bio-Composite Panels demonstrate Reduced Dust and Tooling Wear in manufacturing facilities where it is in use, leading to a more efficient and healthy working environment.
When sanded to a suitable finish, Compak Bio-Composite panels readily accept Paper and Foil Laminates, Formica and natural wood veneers. Painting after priming also gives good results.
Compak Bio-Composite Panels can be made in a wide variety of densities, each designed to meet a particular market need. In High density form Compak Bio-Composites can be used as a structural panel.
In Medium density form Compak Bio-Composite Panels are suitable for a wide range of applications where Particleboard, MDF, Hardboard and some Plywood’s are used, e.g. furniture.
In a Low density form Compak Bio-Composite Panel properties can be designed to be similar to "Softboard" for use as an insulating or acoustic medium.
